Just got back from diving in both June 8th to 15th. Personally, we preferred Bora Bora, but it depends a lot on what else you're interested in doing. When we rented bikes and cruised around Moorea, we were in love. The roads are nice and the people were all fantastic. In contrast, the roads in Bora Bora weren't as nice, the area we stayed was a little bit grittier (though still 100% comfortable and safe). That said, from the water, Bora Bora is VERY hard to beat. Being an atoll, the water is unbelievably clear, warm, and generally makes for great experiences. We had some great Lemon Shark, Black Tip Shark, Moray Eel, Stingrays, Picasso Fish and other great encounters.

Happy to get more specific if it's helpful...

Strictly as far the diving goes (I visited both while on a cruise), Bora Bora was far better diving IMO. I hope the crown of thorns have diminished from a year ago though, they were eating all the coral.

Thanks for this thread. Headed out that way in August. Good to know Bathys/TopDive are decent dive op.
