We have that problem in my area because several of these dams are very old and on private property and the property owners are not willing to spend the money to maintain them. The problem is that these dams affect other property when they fail. Given the decker years of flooding we have seem more dams strained by the flood waters. Local towns have tried to find options to fix these dams.
