Thx Thranx! My flight gets in late in d evening to KK, so dnt think i'll want a buffer dinner.
I'll walk around for local food. Love Malaysian food!!! :)))

As for Semporna overnight on way back, I'll just stay-in then if not much to do outside.

Excited!!! Its my first dive trip out! Going back to where it all started!
Had my DSD in Sabah!

Hi Evie,

Welcome back to KK!

You've already had some great places mentioned for eating out in KK. I thought I'd spoil you a bit more

Within 20m of Kinabalu Daya Hotel (go right as you leave the front entrance with the bar) is Little Italy. It's the only Italian in KK that makes it's own fresh pasta and ice cream. The Ravioli is sublime and the fresh pizzas are great too.

Also any of the local Chinese / Malay restaurants in the area surrounding Kinabalu Daya - including the nearby Moon Bell - offer great, cheap, local food.

If you fancy a beer and sea view then you can''t go wrong going to The Waterfront. The prices are higher (tourist prices) but we can get stunning sun sets which are perfect to watch drinking a early evening beer / wine :). Cheapest beer on The Waterfront is a bucket from the Cock & Bull. You can order beer from there whilst enjoying an Indian next door at the Koh I Noor mmm.

Have an enjoyable time in Sabah.

The Seafest in Semporna is fine for a night however it is "dry", no alcoholic drinks in the hotel. The open air restaurant (to the right on exit front doors) does serve wines and beers. However the best food and drink has got to be the Chinese run open air restaurant at the end of the wooden pier at the crossroads to the left on exiting the hotel. One of the best lobster/fish meals ever, plenty of Tiger beers and a great price!
hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did.

Thanks for this info Dreamdivegirl.... The fact there an Indian restaurant makes me look forward to my trip even more..... :D

Thank you DreamDive Girl & Reef Hook!
In Malaysia, Ill eat malaysian food. =D LOve Indian food too!!!

Just got an email fr my DSD Instructor Mr. Voo Heng Keng... He will pick me up at d airport & we'll go out for dinner!!! Its been 4 years since i had my very first taste of what it's like to be underwaters... & there's no turning back..am loving all my dive experiences!!!

The Best Western is right next to Ang's Hotel Restaurant, and if you cross the road towards the 711 you'll find Moonbell, which has good Northern Chinese cuisine (Sand Storm Chicken, Brinjal & spicy potatoes slivers are awesome).

But if you're feeling adventurous, throw a rock and eat at the first place it hits. Everywhere has a speciality, so just walk on and in ask what's good and that's what you'll get, nice and cheap.

For alternative accommodation try Jessleton Hotel - boutique hotel in Gaya street a couple of blocks along the road from Eden54.

Gaya Street itself has loads of budget hotel and lodge options, so a casual stroll will probably net yourself a couple of deals.

You can try BB Plaza towards the other end of Gaya Street from Eden54 - central plaza with a few restaurants around it at ground level and accommodation on 1st and 2nd floors. Has a nice vibe as it attracts both tourists and locals and has live music.

On way back, overnight Semporna at Seafest. Any advice? Anything to do?

Sipadan Inn is my choice in Semporna. There is nothing to do in that town! It's not even a nice town to take a walk in.
