Second Rebreather Gathering 2010, Attersee, Austria

The event started Saturday at 10 0’clock. Although many participants already arrived on Friday.
Participants came from Germany, Spain, Italy, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Croatia, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, France and Czech Republic . Some of them made dives in the lake, others just enjoyed talking to other rebreather divers and exhibitors.

This year the setting was a bit different: the exhibitors, dive site and hotel were in a different location (on walking distance). Next year these will be grouped together.

During the exhibition there were quite some novelties:
• A prototype submergible CO2 analyser for CCR’s from De-Ox (soon available). And their CO analyser.
• The rEvo III “Pure”: to be officially announced on DEMA 2010.
• The Apocalypse mCCR.
• The new ED drysuits with silicone seals.
• A “special” cave version of the Megalodon. Unfortunately the Pathfinder was not available (but you can download the specs from the member download page on DIRrebreather website)
• The new training manual for the JJ-CCR from IART (and A JJ-CCR on display)
• And for the first time: a representation of the Austria/Swiss part of IANTD Benelux.
• RFC showed a full options Expedition Sentinel (including CO2 sensor).
• Bonex with their full range of DPV’s with accessories.

Special activities:
• Trial dives: Paul Raymaekers (mr. rEvo) himself was conducting introduction dives on Saturday and Sunday on the rEvo III. More than ten enthusiastic divers enjoyed diving a rEvo for the first time.
• Some divers made an Apocs dive with Pim on Saturday.
• On Sunday people dived the Cave Meg.
• Dennis Vessey (Meg IT) from ISC conducted a Meg repair workshop for Meg Instructors. They learned a lot from Dennis (as the pictures can tel). He is amazing with his tool box and the Meg.
• On Saturday evening there was a buffet with more than 65 (CCR-)divers attending.
• And: after the buffet there was a presentation by Pim on X-treme diving and the new DIRrebreather X-treme Accompanied Dive (XTAD). In the audience were some X-treme divers (amongst others Chris Ulmann, President IART and Paul Raymaekers, CEO rEvo CCR). The presentation can be downloaded from DIRrebreather website on the member part.

Next year (2011) the rebreather gathering will also take place during the first weekend of September in Attersee, Austria. So: block your agenda for 3-4 September 2011.
A detailed report of the Rebreather Gathering 2011 will appear soon on DIRrebreather website (under news).

Sounds like a fun gathering. Is the rEvo III "pure" a new model model, or are you referring to the rEvo III in "pure" mCCR move (vs. hybrid or eCCR)? Also, did you get to see the CO2 detector operating in the water? Any feedback?

Cheers,
Ryan

The Gathering was real fun. A relexad setting with enourgh time to talk to "CCR-addicts" and make some dives.
The Pure rEvo is a rEvo III, but without manual injection on the bottom of the CCR, without solenoid and without ADV. Only rEvodreams. The gas management is done from a single gas block on the right side.

Yes: the CO2 monitor on the APOC was working. Although I had some questions about it. I was divingthe unit without the electronic mouthpiece. The CO2 mod is continuously looking for the mouthpiece to transmit data wireless to it.

I got some pictures but I must put them somewhere on a server to be bale to insert them in a post on this forum.
