I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good dive shop in the greater LA area ( and probably the San Diego area too, just in case ). I plan on making a visit soon, and would be looking to rent a set of doubles, as I'll be bringing everything but tanks. Thanks.

Check out Hollywood Divers in Studio City - just across the 101 from Universal Studios. They have lots of cool techie stuff.

Of the top of my head here are the stores that support tech divers, as they all offer at least Adv. Nitrox you should be able to rent from them. I've done biz with all and never had problems with any of them.

Scuba Schools of America/Montclair - Nitrox, Trimix, O2

Hollywood Divers/North Hollywood - Nitrox

Beach Cities Scuba Center -

and if you're heading further north (to dive Anacapa - San Miguel islands)
Anacapa Dive Center/Santa Barbara - Nitrox, Trimix, O2

Also, you can pick up a free copy of CA Diving at any dive shop. It's a monthly paper with complete boat schedule and plenty of store adds etc..

I'm still waiting to hear back from these shops. I'll post some feedback once I know for sure, just in case anyone else is curious...

What is the reason for avoiding them? PM me if you don't want a public discussion.
