I've been considering a house rental in town for a larger group. Curious to hear how you liked it. Pro's & Con's over a hotel with it's own pier???

Casa Carlita was great! It would be perfect for 2 couples as the 2 bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house. One is set up like a master suite with bath attached, the other has the bath just outside the bedroom door. There's also a small office with a twin bed for a 5th person if needed. The place is spotless, the kitchen well equipped, and the whole home is nicely decorated. The outdoor courtyard is small but well laid out with a patio table & chairs as well as a few loungers. The pool is small, but being 5' deep it was great for relaxing and cooling off in the afternoons. There's also an outdoor shower and a rinse tank for dive gear. Although it's just a block away from Chedraui and a couple of busy streets, it was usually very quiet relaxing around the pool. I took a bunch of pictures of the place, but since I got home my computer has been dead in the water .. which is why I haven't done a trip report, or posted any pictures.

With regard to comparing it to a hotel - pros = more room, ability to cook/heat up meals, private pool & garden, tons of DVDs & movies to watch. We had a taxi driver set to pick us up each morning at a set time, so getting to the boat was no big deal.

Cons = miss the ocean view and the direct access to the water.

Wow... Coz is awesome... Just finished up our last day of day diving, have a few shore dives to do some macro photography, and a night dive tomorrow... I can not say enough great things about Scuba Mau... The DMs are great, Gabi Loco , Monkey, Julio, and Eddie... Gabi helped me get my initially weighting down from 20 lbs to 14 lbs (big boy diver), and improve my SCR to 0.35, last few dives actually getting into deco time at 60/70 ft on an AL80, only a yr ago I would have been lucky to get 30 minutes... When I get home, I will post a nice review with some pics... but we have seen so much sea life here its just amazing... Splendid Toads, Huge Sea Turtles, Massive nurse sharks, an 8ft Moray that the DM fed a lionfish too (taking pics got a bit dicey with those sharp teeth just inches from the camera), and Dove the Devil's Throat which will go down as my first deco dive (not intentional, but high tide was in so depth at exit was 138ft, which left little play time (stupid me, trying to get pics of the huge grouper swimming below us in the abyss = deco time)... Looks like time for Tech / Deco classes (no haters please, I know my mistake, and its mine to own)...

Will just say if you are looking for a great Dive Op who takes care of their clients, then look no further that Scuba Mau...

You can add Mntdiver and Sapphire, plus niece Katja (celebrating her HS graduation with a warm-water dive trip) - staying at La Ceiba, not sure who we are diving with yet! Have not been to Coz in about 6 years = looking forward!

Count me back in for December...already made reservations for two.

For the person who posted that DWM removed the cross to clean it(not true)...see my earlier post that they were ordered to remove it by the marine park authorities. Two of DWM divers (Orlando and David) went down and removed everything because of the complaints issued to the Marine park.
For those of you who did not go around to the back of the monument, all of the memorial plaques were also removed....including the one posted by some deranged idiot who memorialized a duck. That plaque was so big it covered ligitimate human memorial plaques and upset some of us who treated the site with the respect it deserved.

glad to hear the real story of where Martin's cross went. Thanks Pidgepoo. Spent the day today with our 7 year old instead of diving. Missed diving, but had the first ever special snorkle with our 7 year old that just rocked my day! I've always thought an hour plus on a dive was bliss, but snorkling with our son holding his hand and hearing him scream "look mom" into his snorkle ranks up there with the best day of my life!!! I don't want to wish his life away, but boy I can't wait till he turns 10 to get jr.cert!!!! Weather was off/on rain/sun all day, but who cares when you are wet anyway! Heading out for a night dive in a little bit. Paradise is waiting.....

Beautiful day on the reef. Started in the middle of Columbia Normal and ended in Palancar Gardens, then back to San Francisco - the big loggerhead decided about the time I turned on the video he'd head up for a breath. Amazing.

Nudibranch time! Last night my first fringeback, today tailing purple-crowned seagoddesses and plenty of painted elysias.

Third dive was San Juan workout. Regular start, across the telephone cable to the crown of pillar coral (why did the idiot instructor hold onto the live pillar coral, and did he hear me screaming at him?!?) then up the mountain to safety stop.

LOL ... yup! We all go green sooner or later! Luckily, we both have blue in our future! Sorry to miss meeting you, we'll be there the week before Thanksgiving. Maybe we'll cross paths next year!
