Does anyone know if there's a way to catch shrimp while scuba diving?

Shrimping season is opening up in the Puget Sound and I would like to do some shrimping while diving if that's possible. The regulation say it's legal to take by hand but they seem a little fast to catch easily.

Thanks!

Depends on the shrimp. Catching any mantis shrimp species by hand is tricky. Generally a 2 knife operation. One long knife blocks the hole while the other knife cuts off the sharp bits up top. A mistake with a large one can cost you a thumb or finger.

I've caught Gulf "prawn" shaped shrimp by hand, but they bury almost faster than you can dig.

You might want to double check your state's fish and game regulations. I know down here in California diving for lobsters for instance, catching by hand means by hand only, no nets, snares, loops, persuation sticks, nothing but your hands. And lobsters are screamin' fast.
Maybe Puget Sound is different :idk: But it's not worth getting a ticket.
