Catalina Place to sleep

Im planning on diving Avalon at end of month. Any recommendations on a place to crash on the island (cheap and clean ) ? I know of the camp ground, but that will be my last choice

I looked into it myself (planning my spring break). Not sure what you're budget is but it's still kind of expensive (perhaps the broke college student mentality working here)

How about the Hermosa hotel? Prices have gone up over the years but for $55 off season it's really about as cheap of a room as you can get -- unless you find a local.

+1 on the Hermosa Hotel. It's conveniently located next to a grocery store. If there's no availability at the Hermosa, I'd try the Atwater Hotel. It's not nearly as affordable as the Hermosa, though. If you end up doing the campground, it's critical that you secure enough lockers at Casino Point to stash your heavy scuba gear. That will save you the trouble of carting all of your gear back and forth from CP to campground. Also, in case you were interested, I think pizza can be delivered to the campground. Don't ask how I know.

The Hermosa was the place. Very friendly staff, they have free "dive lockers" ( the one we had was pretty much a walk-in closet at street level) . They also have a place to rinse off gear, shower and a secure luggage storage for AFTER YOU CHECK OUT !!! The only thing they are missing is a courtesy shuttle from boat.

I was there on March 31, so it was still "off season". $75 / night for 2 beds with kitchen cottage. GREAT Place and people

The guys at Catalina Scuba Luv ( Bob and Brian ) were great !! I had gone to catalina thinking that I could get my tank filled right there at the dive park, but they were not open ( either day) and Bob and Brian helped me out by getting me a fill.
