Wondering how people like the Ikelite housing for the Nikon Coolpix series cameras. I'm debating on adding a strobe to an Intova setup with a housing or if it is worth the plunge to buy another housing and strobe setup for my Coolpix.

Any help would be appreciated...thanks

I've had the Ike housing for the CP 7900 for five years. It's great ! Built like a tank. Much thicker than most other p/s camera housings, especially the Nikon-made housings. I use it with the DS-50 strobe and EV controller. I've since upgraded to the Canon SD 980 for the HD video capabilities (among other things), but the 7900s' standard definition video is pretty good. The Cool Pix line is discontinued, but you can still find housings around if you look a bit.

thanks phillybob...seems i can order the Ikelite housing from some reps for my Coolpix..you answered my question about it's durability...

I found an LDS who had no problem ordering a housing for the Coolpix...

I have used the Ike housing for my Nikon Coolpix 5000 for numerous dive trip without ANY incident. I also have a DS-50 strobe. Good luck.

Thanks Aeolus...I've been hearing it's a decent setup for some pretty good picture taking...not ready to buy the digital slr Nikon just yet :D
