I'm another that would have to say a drysuit is the way to go in Monterey. I used to have a 1 piece 7/5 mm which did the job for most of the time, but there were those days that just got so cold I had to switch to a drysuit.
Don't get me wrong, I will still use my wesuit here and there, but only in waters over 60 Degrees.
