BC For spearfishing

I use the Zeagle Ranger LTD. It is a back inflating design and doesn't bunch me up a lot in front where I need to chest load my spear gun, etc. It also allows me to "not" where a weight belt--completely integrated. It also had an integrated Octo/power inflator--for spear fishing, I want the less crap hanging off me as possible. By not needing a weight belt, I can put on a belt that I hang various clips on for hooking up fish stringers, game bags, etc. I have used the Nighthawk too, but it holds the weight too high on me to trim out well, so I needed to also use a weight belt--something I wanted to get away from. For comparison, I am not the chiseled broad shouldered, small waist guy you describe yourself as, but I am 6'1" and 205lbs. Somewhat similar I suppose. Good Luck however you decide to go.

OK, I think I understand the question now. There is no such thing as a spearfishing BC. However, an open front design does make it easier to control the gun while loading and stringing due to better visibility in the down direction. Also, the wet suit takes the load instead of the BC. Personally, I don't like BC's with rings and pockets. I am a solo diver, mostly into spearfishing, and have no need for flashlights, buoys, integrated weights and stuff. When diving SCUBA, I use a light weight BC without pockets or rings but do carry a whistle attached to the inflator hose. I wear a traditional lead weight belt with a couple of clips attached. Usually, I carry a stringer on one of the clips. The BC itself is the (out of production) Seaquest Dimension 3 which looks a bit like the Zeagle Stilleto but is much more streamlined. It is extremely tough and well made. The adjustment system is complex in appearance but relatively simple to use. Pulling on the waist strap simultaneously tightens the shoulder straps. No crotch strap is needed. It only fits single tanks. My steel, single tanks have six pounds negative buoyancy when empty. Im hearing good thing abt the Hollis BCD .... are they comparable to Dive rite or Halcyon ?
