Whenever computers misbehave I've found that approaching them with a screwdriver, a drill, a soldering iron, and a sincere desire to reroute its motherboard they start operating as they should. The important part is the desire, they can sense when you are faking it.
 
Well, I have sincerely had the desire to destroy my computer, I mean get it to work.
