I'm new. Who'd of guessed it?

As much as I hate intro threads, they're a necessary evil, so here goes...

I'm a college kid going to school in Bellingham, WA, but my hometown is Vancouver, WA. I work near Pacific City on the Oregon Coast during the summer as a lifeguard and a climbing instructor for the Boy Scouts of America.

I'm taking my OW class in April, but I've been interested in diving since I did a presentation on SCUBA in 3rd grade. I just haven't had the time to get certified, and now that I've got a job and some free time I'm finally taking the plunge (pun very much intended).

I'll probably be lurking for a while until I get my cert. done, but expect lots of questions regarding gear and such while I get acclimated. So far SB has struck me as a very friendly and comfortable group, so hopefully I can find the help I'll need here.
