Today I went to see the submerged grist mill in Moulinette (near Cornwall, Ontario). It's fascinating to see what used to be a building sitting 70ft deep in the water!

There is supposed to be another mill near there, a Woolen mill. Does anyone know if it's worth the swim out there? Just getting to the grist mill is a pretty long swim from the beach at Lakeview Heights park.

There's also that old tunnel which used to be a road under the old canal, which is submerged now. It seems that they piled dirt over the openings before they flooded the area way back in 1902. I want to try digging the dirt away this summer to see in the old tunnel but it looks like a lot of work. Does anyone know how to dig underwater, I imagine it would be harder without a lot of extra weight to hold you down as you stick the shovel in?

That's a great video Neil. It makes me want to go back to Molasses Reef.
I have a suggestion about digging out the bridge. If the DIR guys around Ottawa still give you the time of day, you could ask them to borrow one of their scooters. I bet a long body Gavin backwards would make short work of that. or is the DIR scooter of choice nowadays the X ?

Take video.

Before everyone starts digging up the Moulinette tunnel, someone needs to find out if this is considered an archaeological site under Ontario's Bill 179. You aren't supposed to modify an archaeological site without a permit.

Hello, I was wondering if you have any more info on accessing the site, entry, navigation, etc. I'd be interested to dive it, your video makes it look like a really cool site.

Thanks.
