Thanks a lot for the advice guys. I've been checking out all the article on BP/W on here and getting much more informed. One more question, if I decide to go with a BP/W for doubles, I doubt I will buy a BC, well I know I won't so..., if sometimes I just want to do a nice rec dive, if I buy a BP/W for a single tank will I be ok to do some nice easy recreational dives?

Wow, thanks for the advice guys. One more quick questions. If I do decide to go with BP/W I will not buy a BC. I will probably get a BP/W for doubles. Now if I wanted to do a nice easy rec dive, will I be ok with the BP/W and harness system if I have a BP/W for one tank? Will I still be able to do normal diving with this setup?

Yes and BP/W can be used for both single and twin tank diving, I use mine in both capacitys. As mentioned earlier, if you think it will be a while before getting into doubles, buy a smaller wing suitable for single tank diving, and you can upgrade to a larger wing when the time comes for the doubles. That's the great thing about a BP/W is that it is totally modular and can be setup how you choose and need.

Jimmer beat me...

You can do single tank dives with a B/P wing. You will need a single wing and an STA.

Doubles wings are meant for doubles...the volume is too wide for a single tank.

Single wings are low volume, streamline for that..Single tanks.

So I would get a singles wing and an STA plus a doubles wing.

Same Back Plate and harness...fits like a glove everytime.

Yup. they come with twin cam bands. Also OMS, Halcyon etc..
Some are also 1.5 lbs or 6 lbs. standard.

Check this

And this

and also this...Shamless plug for Tobin...do not know him..but seems like a nice guy...

So combine an STA of 6lbs and a SS back plate of 6lbs..= 12 pounds on your back and evenly distributed....makes for less weigh on a belt or in ditchable pockets.

Sunfire85:
You mentioned getting a STA. Just looking around real quick, is it something similar to this?

If doubles are in your future, then a BP/W is really the only option.

DeepSeaSupply
Hammerhead
oxycheq
OMS
GUE
ScubaToys
DiveRite
Halcyon
GolemGear ~ Very good price on a Singles setup.
TechDivingLimited

That should get you started.

I personally have a Hammerhead BP, OMS wing, DR Harness and CAM bands. Deep Sea Supply makes a very nice setup, but I wanted a heavy STA, so did not go with them. GolemGear may make the nicest Singles setup for the $$$.

Just curious, what does the heavy STA address that adding DSS weight plates does not (unless you don't have a DSS wing)?
