Snorkel - anyone still wear theirs diving?

I don't wear one for two reasons.

1. I would get in the way of deploying my long hose in an OOA situation.
2. It can be a pain when swiming in current. Mask can flood.
3. If the conditions are rough I would rather be on my back gas.
4. Other than snorkeling - I don't have a use for it.

5. You lose the ability to count to 2.

Oh, and I'm just too darn cool to wear one.

When I first took my snorkel off my mask, I was keeping a foldable one in my pocket for long surface swims. A few dives later I realized that I never needed or wanted it for such swims out. I keep one now only for snorkeling. I just can't come up with a situation for which I'd need it (i.e. either I'm fine without it, or would be much better served with a reg in my mouth).

And since then I've gone to a long hose, so another reason not to wear one.

I wear one when scuba diving, really only for convention. When I surface swim, I do so angled in the water, back down. That way I can rest, facing up, while finning. I like a snorkle for snorkling only ... but this is just my personal preference.
