I know this is off topic but still CCD related....

When is the next research diver training? They are still advertising Fall 2005 session on their web site.

I'm not sure when that will be scheduled; standards are in flux at the moment. PM coming your way.

Hi Kelpmermaid,
I'm newly certified, in fact I don't even have my card yet so I've never done a cleanup dive but I started diving partly because I wanted to help cleanup the ocean. Do we need our own gear to do this or is there some organized rental for this event?

No, you would need to bring your own gear; have you started to accumulate it yet? Actually, there are two dive shops in town, but I don't know how crazy that gets. There are usually in the vicinity of 500 signups.

One thing, if you do decide to go and need help with logistics, you might want to hook up with Reef Seekers. Ken is organizing a group outing.

BTW, welcome aboard.

Thank You Kelpmermaid. I haven't started buying gear... only got the mask and snorkel. I like to travel light so I was actually hoping that wherever I went I could rent gear... but this could be a problem if I want to do clean up dives and there are 500 divers!

HappyDiving... you might give SCUBA Luv a call (310-510-2350) to see if you can reserve a set of gear if you really want to come down for the clean-up.

KelpMermaid.. I'll be there with camera in hand to film the event, and will again be donating some of my DVD's for raffle prizes. Did you see the "Out And About with Roger Martin" coverage of last year's event. They used a fair bit of my underwater video, both of the clean-up and of marine life from the local waters.

Dr. Bill - yes, I think I did see that!

See you then, if not before. Actually, we are planning to come out to Casino Point on Saturday, weather permitting.

Not sure if I'll be at the Point nor on the King Neptune this Sat. Have a new dive buddy coming out and I'm not sure yet which she wants to do.

Currents were pretty strong around Noon last weekend, but lunar phase will be different this weekend. Have fun!

I have signed my lovely bride and myself up for this. It will be our first time doing this – any hints?

Make sure you bring …
Make sure you do this…
and whatever you do, DON’T do this…

We are own gear including one tank each, air fills with so many other divers?

We have booked Friday and Saturday nights at Seaport Village. We hope to get in an additional dive in the afternoon and one Sunday morning. Anyone else plan on going?

Dave
