I visited friends in Trondheim in 1999 a few times, and I thought that it was important to make an effort, so I got a tape and a book to learn and practice. Unfortunately I get very little chance to practice these days.
The best part is that Danish and Swedish are close enough to Norwegian that I can pretend. When I meet a Dane, I can greet them in my simple Norwegian, and they just think I speak really bad Danish!
