Has anyone here seen the new Underwater Kinetics http://www.uwkinetics.com HID light called the Light Cannon? Don't bother checking the website just yet, it's new and it's not there yet. I beleive they're saving it for DEMA. The company is right up the road from me, so I'll see if they're willing to let me check it out before DEMA. Are there any UK employees on the boards yet?

I played with the light at Dema in New Orleans but I haven't had a chance to get one wet yet. I can tell you that it had a nice beam angle and color, but it's a light you actually have to carry or strap to your wrist/bc etc. I really prefer the NiteRider http://www.niterider.com type of underwater lights. They are lighter, brighter, last longer and more durable than most and the best part is that they are hands free. Some ppl use it attached to their head, I prefer mine on my wrist. My hands are still free and it prevents me from blinding others when I look around.

I was wondering about the blinding-your-buddy effect of the head mounted light...

Also, from the NiteRider site... does this affect your opinion of the lights?

Yes what you see on the site is true... what you don't see on the site that I can tell you is that NiteRider Technical Lighting Systems was started by two guys. Thomas Carroll whom was the inventor. (He just wanted to be able to surf at night) And John Haywood the investor. (John is also the owner of two furniture locations called Haywood's unfinished furniture.) Mr Carroll is an engineer whom does the majority of the design work on the lighting systems. The two partners had two different idea's on how the company should progress into the future. John wanted to persue only the Bike portion of the business and therefore did not want to persue dive (less market share) Where as Tom wanted to keep the dive portion because that's what got the company on the map to begin with.

So to make a long story short, Tom bought out John's share and will continue to engineer new and exciting products. Make no mistake, we have the inside scoop on the details of the company... yes we even know what their dog's names are... but then that's what makes this site so special. We have the inside edge on many many companies. Just ask and you shall receive.

Sea you in the Deep Blue!

An adverting campaign per chance MArio? Tut Tut heh

Advertising? Nah... I worked for the company a long time ago as the Dive and Outdoor product lines account mgr, but advertising for them now certainly doesn't put any money in my pocket. It's just a quality product that deserves the reputation it's earned.
