Hi, does anyone know what happened to Castle Comfort Dive Lodge or Anchorage Hotel? It looks like Castle Comfort Dive Lodge was last reviewed in 2017. Pictures of the Castle Comfort Villas do not look like the same property or location. We stayed there about 20 years ago and liked that Castle Comfort Dive Lodge had it's own dock, dive operation, and restaurant for meals, along with the proximity to Roseau. Castle Comfort Dive Lodge was connected to Dive Dominica at the time. We will be joining a group at Fort Young hotel, but would like to stay somewhere else for two nights in Dominica before joining the group. Fort Young was really expensive to just add on two nights. I remember our friends also stayed in Soufriere and used Nature Island (?) Diving. I see the Jungle Bay in Soufriere is $800 a night and that just seems obscene to me. Any ideas about safe, reasonable alternatives to Fort Young?
Thanks!

Wasn't Castle Comfort Dive Lodge destroyed by Hurricane Maria in 2017?

Yeah a lot of things were destroyed. Don’t recall year and storm but I was in the middle of planning a trip there and it got nailed before I pulled the trigger. Still haven’t made it ;(

It looks like you are right. Castle Comfort Lodge took a hard hit from Hurricane Maria. Does anyone have suggestions for an alternative? Thanks.

I'd check with Dive Dominica (CC's old partner) and ask for a recommendation.

Out of curiosity, I contacted Dive Dominica, that prior to 2017/Maria shared a building with Castle Comfort Lodge.
The Lodge was rebuilt and now operates as Ocean's Edge Hotel and is still used by some Dive Dominica clients; it is close an convenient. Jungle Bay is another place their clients use.
I have only stayed at the Fort Young (before and after 2017/Maria) and dived with Buddy Dive (who operated out of the FYH for a while, but lost all four of their boats in 2017/Maria) and Dive Dominica more recently.

I did just what you suggested and contacted Dive Dominica and got the same info you did; Ocean's Edge is where Castle Comfort Lodge had been. I looked at Jungle Bay and saw prices for around $700 per night and that is just too high for me.
