The magnets, so far as I know, are still available and can be purchased from Huish Outdoors. The newer ones don't have problems with corrosion. If you have any problems getting them due to being in Mallorca let me know here and I will work to get some to you. If the Select magnet is not working but the others are, it might help to swap out the UP magnet as it is much less essential to computer operation.

Hi Ron,
thank you for your answer and your helpful tip.
I visited Huish Outdoors website but couldn't find any possibility to order anything there. If you would be able to find those replacement magnets in the US may I beg you to organize them for me? Of course I'm willing to pay shipping, tax and handling to Hamburg, Germany. Again, thank you and best regards!

Sure. I'll send you a direct message here on ScubaBoard with some ideas- I think getting them from Huish would require going through an Atomic dealer as they don't sell directly to consumers. But check your messages here.

Yes, we started this page just to provide help with issues like this.

There has never been an issue with lack of availability for the reed switches, they are a very common part. Supply chain for microprocessors and other chips has been another story... My guess is that Huish had a large number of PPX they wanted to sell.

While someone with good electronics soldering skills and the right equipment (a microscope or good lenses is pretty important) could replace the reed switches, I'm hesitant to post any repair videos / instructions for operations involving opening the case- lens connection, knowing that there would be inevitable problems. There are a few places where it really helps to have done this many times before, and to know what other things to look for. As time goes on I'll consider this, though. Probably it would be worth publishing the process. As of now, we are more than willing to help out Cobalt users with these issues.

Hi Ron
I too have a cobalt 2 that is in need of magnetic buttons. The ones on the unit have rusted out. Any chance you have a source for the replacement parts? Huish told me they no longer support the unit and parts are unavailable. Thanks
