First, thank you VERY much for the information above.

We know that visiting Spain in July and most of August will be very difficult. We can visit in June and late August to late September. You think that this time frame will be better in terms of less crowds and good diving?
September is usually one of the best times to visit the Spanish Med (or anywhere in the Med really). Sea is still warm, it's much less crowded and can be a good bit cheaper then July and August. June is also very nice. Although sea temperatures will be a bit cooler the land is still greener and not as parched looking as end of summer.

I asked the dive shop what the water temps were this week. He said 22c at 30m. That's 71.5 degrees. That means I need to pack a wetsuit. I was hoping I could leave the wetsuit at home.

Med is never warm enough to dive without a wetsuit. If anything below 15m full body 5mm at least. Some areas with more significant thermoclines even thicker.

Brrrr. That's boarderline 7mm for me now that I've turned into a WWW, especially if doing multiple dives over multiple days in those temps.

Hope you have a fantastic trip! Looking forward to reading all about it.

Hi @MrChen , European diver here !

I can recommand 2 spots in Mallorca. The first is ont the SW coast near Andratx and Santa Ponsa: Dragonera and El Toro, a marine reserve. Both are famous dive spots. Giant Groupers, barracudas and eagle rays. Try ZOEA Mallorca in Santa Ponsa, very professional.

The second spot is less known, it's north of the island, near Cap Formentor, an absolutly magnificent place. diving takes place along the cap Formentor, for example with Scuba Mallorca in Port de Pollança. Diving is maybe not the best in the Mediterranean but the spot of Cap Formentor is a wonderful place to die after a long life of diving... !

Definetly need a 7mil in the Mediterranean.

It sounds like I'm packing my 5mm with lavacore or sharkskin.

We're booking everything through Soller Divers. Are these spots accessible or likely dove from a shop in Port de Soller? Or would we have to make a day trip to the areas?

What is Cap Formentor? I don't want to die :) :) :)

Cool adventure trip and very different from our PBC diving.

That's so cool that you're going to Mallorca

We went in 1985, I was not a diver yet but it sure was cool to see my mom's family's farm. I was 17.

If I recall correctly, it's very mountainous and our rental Peugeot 505 wagon couldn't make it up the hills and people were passing us and honking 😂
