Retired US Merchant Marine Captain. Grad 1976 US Merchant Marine Academy. Grew up on Lake Erie and Lake Michigan and small inland lake. Family had a retail sailboat business for 31 years serving the West Michigan area and Lake Michigan. Now live in Michigan, but lived in Vero Beach FL for 8 years where my wife and I got certified in Ft. Pierce. A did my dives off West Palm Beach and the Keys. I spent 29 years on LNG Super tankers in the Japan/Indonesia trade with many chances to snorkel and dive in the Celebes Sea and also numerous dives in Hawaii and Maui on my return trips home for vacation. Also did numerous dives in the Caribbean while on vacations to Nassau and cruises to the Virgin Islands. Finished up my career doing food relief voyages around the world and military ships in Diego Garcia. Retired now for two years and just getting interested again and have the time to head for the Bahamas and Keys. Folks had a liveaboard trawler for 5 years in Ft Myers and spent time in the Keys, now they are ashore on Pine Island with a dock behind the house so I have a place to stay in FL, just too bad it is on the crummy diving side of FL.
