In order to avoid drilling holes in my transom, I mounted a piece of starboard material onto the transom using 5200. Then I screwed another piece of starboard same size on top of it, sealed edges with silicone, so its removeable if I change transducers. Any time you drill holes into your hull below the waterline you are gonna have problems. This was my solution.
