Pair of Pearly Soldierfish (Redish-white) and Goldring Surgeonfish (Dark with gold ring around eye) at Molokini Islet. Pearly's are slightly smaller and more white than the Bigscale Soldierfish. Pearly's also hide in corals heads than in caves and ledges, which the Bigscales do. Back in the day in Hawaii the Goldring's were placed under the posts of a new home for good luck. Their Hawaiian name Kole means raw, which is how it is eaten. The Goldrings are endemic to Hawaii and the Pearly's are common in the Pacific.
