What is this?

Today someone brought this strange creature to our dive shop at Vaersenbaai, Curacao. Size is about 1 inch. It doesn't sting so it is probably no yellyfish.
Hi,
it is called a Blue Button but the scientific name is "Porpita porpita". it's a colony of hydroids and the mouth is situated under the round 'float' in the centre. It floats around and is a passive feeder. sometimes you see them floating on the beach with a nudibranch called Glaucus atlanticus (sometimes is sometimes called a sea swallow) which feeds on it.they have a mild sting too.
hope this helps...they are pretty strange looking.....oh and its from a class called hydrozoa which are all roundish in shape.:)
