Phyllopterix taeniolatus is its scientific name and these amiable syngnathid fish live off Australia's southern coast. Relatively common in places like Sydney, they are a real drawcard for visiting divers. Protected by law, they enjoy life in safety - well, as safe as it can be in a filthy polluted, big city. :-)
