We have stayed at FA twice and absolutely loved it. However, the beach area is currently closed - which means no cabanas, no chairs, no bathroom, no access to the pier for dive boats to pick you up (though I understand the resort is paying for taxis to take people to the marina). You can use the beach if you bring your own towel. There were three restaurants on the beach and they are all closed, from what I understand.

I've heard differing stories about why the area is closed, but as long as it is closed it means a very limited version of the resort we love. If you are thinking about making reservations please inquire ahead of time about when that area will be re-opened, IF it will be re-opened. People are showing up at the resort having no idea they are not getting what they were anticipating. If you ask questions on FB pages or Trip Advisor you get really vague responses, so do yourself a favor and figure out a way to get to the honest-to-goodness truth before you book.

I hope they resolve this quickly - it really is a great resort. I hope to return.

According a member of a Cozumel FB group, the hotel got caught illegal dumping. Dumping of what, I don't know. It's FB, so take it for what it's worth.

That would be nice to see confirmed true or false. I stayed there a long time ago, before they got rid of the non-AI option, and would go back if they restored that option, but if it turns out they were polluting then that's a permanent black listing from me. Not going to judge unless more info comes out because, yeah, Facebook as a source. o_O

What I heard yesterday had NOTHING to do with polluting - and I don’t want to add to the rumor mill. Just want us to have the chance to make informed choices.

I am at FA now as well. Can confirm there’s no service of any kind on the water. You’re allowed to go there but the Hotel is not allowed to serve anyone on the beach. This is our first time at FA. I have a friend who’s a local (and also a professional diver). He told me FA is having difficulty with the Federal Government but did not elaborate. I’m diving with him I a few days.

I have been going to Scuba Club for 15 years. We went to Fiesta Americana for the first time March 2020. It was so good that my friend bought a membership there. A few months later we went back with an even bigger group. We went back to FA a total of 3 times since March 2020.

Fiesta Americana is definitely a really great place without all of the COVID restrictions.

The last time that we were there was definitely a disappointment, given all of the COVID restrictions.

We are really going to be pissed off if FA doesn't get this straightened out.

Good day all; does anyone have an update on the beach/restaurant/dock issues at the FA?

Thanks
It looked like beach was still not being used by hotel staff (or many guests ) when I went by yesterday afternoon. There was closure tape on the ocean end of the dock. There actually was a guy standing on it with what looked like bags , but I was a few hundred yards offshore so couldn’t be sure. Hopefully someone more familiar with the situation will chime in.

A friend who just took a trip to Fiesta Americana a week ago just confirmed that the beach area is still closed and they were taking a taxi to and from the marina.
