I know a few people who tried out the D420 and love it. I haven’t had a chance to try it, yet. It too, like the G260 and R195, can be changed to allow the LP hose to be routed from either side.

I had a crush on it for a while but in the end no love was found. G250V till I die.

Let us know price. Is that upgrading to S-wing poppet?
I took it today. The owner said $35 labor plus $22 for G260 kit with poppet. Thats for all 3 stages. Dont know about balance chamber yet.

The G250V is a nice reg. Mine were sold after getting the G260.

I’ve serviced several of the D series second stages and used to have the Mk20UL/D400. After going through the course, listening to those who have one, and reading up on the D420 I am rather interested in trying it.

Can't say I notice any real increase in performance of the G260 over the G250V, granted the micro adjuster gives more control over tuning allowing for a finer touch and the smaller form factor is nice but if someone already owns a G250/V I'd find it hard to recommend one unless they wanted new and had money burning a hole, if they are expecting a noticeable performance increase disappointment may ensue.

The D400 IMO was a noticeably better performer than the D420, or perhaps I just preferred its breathing characteristics more, much more, felt more natural.

Others might disagree.

Well, from a technician point of view, I would prefer to service the D420. At least I don’t have to worry about not tearing the diaphragm cover when removing it or hoping the poppet spring hasn’t worn out.
