To all that are already out diving in Coz .. Anyone doing night dives through a dive op? I was told by the op I was looking at that they weren't allowed to do night dives.

I just checked with the manager of my LDS and night dives were shut down per the Harbor Master which is under federal authority. The most common (but by no means the only) night dive site is Paradise which is also currently shutdown per the park authority. That's not to say other folks may be operating anyway. While I was diving a couple weeks back I heard rumors / comments from several locals that their is a lot of illegal night fishing going on as folks are out of work and trying to feed their families. This may also be a factor in why the HM doesn't want anyone out diving at night.

Ok that makes sense.. Well that suck I was really looking forward to getting my daughter her first night dive in Cozumel

Is Paradise shut down completely, or just for night dives?
Any other closures?
I'll be there in 2 days.

Scuba Club has unlimited night shore dives, but you have to staying there.

You sir are lucky. Due to open August 1st unless something has changed. Actually my favorite reef when not overrun with divers and snorkelers I bumped the schedule up in the Can we go to Coz thread

EDIT: I should have been more clear. Paradise has been closed to all diving for June and July. Reopens August according to schedule. I don’t know what status of night diving is. When port re-opened back in June, night diving was logistically impossible since curfew was 6 or 7 at the time. Now it is logistically possible, but I don’t know if Port Captain wants if. Will defer to others with better information on that point

We have hired private guides to take us on night dives at Paradise. They picked us up at our resort with a private boat. I suppose we could still dive Paradise at night even if the port is closed. But I haven't been to Coz in several months.

And it has to be open, which it is not.

Oh - so because it's a private boat the night dives are permitted - is that what your "private guide" told you?

FYI - night dives are still prohibited.

Does that include shore diving at night?
