Hi All,

I am enquiring for recommendations who have experience for very cheap accommodation on the coastline area of Mabini and Batangas areas south of Manila as we are on a very limited budget and even though we would love to support them in these difficult times we don't want to pay dive resort accommodation prices.

Even Airbnbs cheapest is approx 30,000 Pesos a month which we know we can do better locally.

Any ideas or experience of staying in safe clean cheap accommodation in Mabini/Batangas areas near where we can rent tanks for our dives or just dive with a dive operator at a nearby resort without having to use their accommodation?

Stay safe.

Fastnail.

How long are you looking to stay? Are you wanting to go the more self sufficient route of Air BnB, or just whatever fits the budget? Also, what sort of diving are you wanting? (Some areas are a more muck, some are reef)

Hi D fresh,

Thank you for your reply.

The self-sufficiency route is preferable, we already looked on Airbnb and not impressed with the overpriced accommodation. 3 to 6 months is what we are looking to stay so moving around Mabini coastline/Batangas bay covering reefs and muck diving is okay although reefs are my favourite.

Obviously we need to be located fairly near to dive operators for the scuba tanks and or dive boats.

I live a minimalist lifestyle too so local is great.

Thank you for your input.

Stay safe.

Nice! I don't typically do Airbnb stays in Mabini, as I usually just make over night or 2 night-er trips. I will ask around with some of my buddies and see if anyone might have suggestions. Maybe there is an option that is not listed on the major Airbnb sites or an operation what is more flexible towards what you're looking to do. I can imagine that, after all this Covid "ECQ" is finished, the businesses will be super happy to have revenue again....:thumb:

Thank you D Fresh...you are so kind, much appreciated and await your feedback (-;

Now in Mabini is really quiet and a few resorts closed so the prices you see for lodging must be the ones frozen before the virus updates neing useless as nobody goes there.
Remember also that in order to dive in Mabini, you must go through a resort to have access to the boat (a few exceptions:)) and most of the resort charge this access to the shore.
But anyway, all of these may change...

Currently, during this "lock-down" in Batangas, the Barangay chief of Mabini ordered ALL hotel/resort operations closed and empty while the "Enhanced Community Quarantine" is in place. They event sent officials to check that operations complied.

Also, I just saw on local news tv that the ECQ has been extended to May 15...

Hi D Fresh,

I understand the situation...I meant to go diving Mabini area after the lockdowns are finished.

Keep in mind that the price of boat dives per person depends on the # of divers on the bangka. So you better make some friends as it otherwise can go against your idea of doing things on the cheap.
