I am running into conflicts with work related travel and my sons spring break and I need to stay in US during April.

Love the keys in July as the water is flat (I know, hurricanes but will take my chances) can anyone compare the dive conditions in April to July?

In my experience, April can be 'iffy'. I've had a fair number of trips cancelled in the spring due to bad marine conditions. With that said, I've also had a few idealic dive trips too. You may ask why in the world would I go to the Keys in April if the marine conditions can be so poor..... it's because I'm tying it in with a work trip so the flight is covered. On my own dime, I wait for the summer.

I'd come prepared for generally rougher marine conditions and a higher likelihood of cancellations compared to July (which is one of the best times to dive in the Keys in my opinion). The water will be colder than July, but shouldn't be too bad. Probably mid to upper 70's.

I dove Key Largo last May and had fairly rough seas. Still doable but I did cancel a couple of days due to 4' seas, but I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to chop.

I understand, I like warm flat waters whenever possible
