My wife and I are going to Grand Cayman in a few weeks for a dive vacation. We are staying at the Wyndham on the east side of the island. Would love to hear some dive shop recommendations. Are we going to have to drive every day to the west side to meet a dive operator? Are there any operations that pick up at the dock at the Wyndham? We will have a rental car.

So you planned a dive vacation leaving in a couple weeks and now you are wondering about the dive operators that you might use? (head scratch). To answer your question there is one on site and one of the best on the island, Oceanfrontiers a 5-10 min drive away. May I suggest you look through some of the GC threads on diving GC and the East side in particular. Lots of info.

Tortuga Divers is located next door to the Wyndham at Morritt's resort and Ocean Frontiers is nearby at the Compass Point resort.

Ask the Wyndham resort concierge for advice, I am sure that they must offer a scuba package for interested guests.

I stayed at Morritts has the tortuga dive shop. we walked down to Wyndham quite a few nights for coffee, they have a ocean frontiers Satelite there.

Thanks for your help. The trip is in 6 weeks and was a gift (from someone who doesn't know about diving). I did look through several GC threads but didn't see the specific answers I was looking for. Have a happy New Year.

Ocean frontiers on the east side.
Yup - probably the best OP on the island (in my opinion - and not that others are bad by any means). Definitely the best boats (new and very roomy, custom 46 ft Newtons!)... and sharks at the corner sites!

If you are on island on a Thursday and they are running it, do the X dive with Ocean Frontiers - sort of a "drift" dive: they drop you at one site and pick you up about 2 sites down (typically, there is not alot of current so you are finning across the sites). Normally (unless conditions are not good), they do this across the 3 corner sites (Pat's Wall, Jack McKenny's Canyons and the Maze) which are where the men in the grey suits are usually found:
