So the go to transport method in cave country are the large plastic creates, with a milk crate for things that you don't want to remain wet (computers, regulators and the like). I was wondering if you can use a couple of collapsible crates? I don't have a lot of room for a big plastic crate to lay around.

Anyone tried one? How well did it work?

Have yet to find a collapsible crate that doesn't selfdestruct when carrying more than 30lbs of gear, almost always having everthing delicate fall down several flights of stairs. Figure my last collapsible box cost me over $1500.
Don't ask why it was my very last collapsible box, and why I'll never again have one in my household.

I have not had great luck with the collapsible ones. They are best suited for the trunk of the car in a static use. Not collapsible, but I have been using crates from Home Depot that are part of their toolbox system. The plus of these is they interlock when stacked. The captains of the boats I have brought them on have been very interested....

The balance of the system has also perked my interest. i have one box for my tank inspection equipment. The roller box is also in stash to move gear via wheels.

Those crates are pretty interesting, but my issue these days is space. I have limited space, and much of that is being taken over by tanks.

In Australia Coles supermarkets use a nifty collapsible but sturdy black plastic crate for home deliveries... these are often re-purposed
Logtek make them in a few sizes (Size C at 41L is the biggest 578 x 385 x 210mm), also Rotaform in NZ make a 47L size meant for heavy commercial freight use:

There must be something similar used for commercial freight in the US?
