I couldn't wait any longer. I went to Monterey sunday, rented some gear and did a "get my feet wet again" dive at breakwater. IT FELT GREAT!!! conditions were nice and visiblity wasn't too bad, once i got out a little way. it took me a couple minuets to get comfortable again but before i knew it i felt right at home, like reuniting with an old friend and picking up right where we left off. saw lots of life even got to play with a seal for a little bit.
Of course no first dive after that long could go completely smooth, right??? i was staying right around the 30 to 45 foot range just checking out critters in the rock. I had been down for maybe 45mins or so when the battery die on the computer so i lost my depth gauge, not a big deal because i wasnt going any deeper and was about to start slowly heading in. Then the part that pissed me off, the high pressure hose started leaking intermititly where it goes into gauge, so i headed in.
All in all it was a great day i was happy with the way i handled every thing, never paniced or got stressed, just adjusted did what i needed to do. Still ended up getting an hour of underwater time and even with the leak i finished with 1000lbs in the AL100 i was using.
I can't wait to get out and some more diving. my wife is getting certified in April and we already have a few trips planed. After what happened with that rental gear i think getting our own full kit has become more of a priority.
Happy Diving everyone
