Had a few "homemade" bicycle inner tube backup light retainers rip over time, and it *seems* like the ones that come with halcyon rigs, which are made of EPDM, last longer.

That being said, I'd rather not order a couple for fifty cents each and pay 7 dollars shipping and handling.

In the past I managed to find the same o-ring halcyon use as a retainer for the bcd inflator: (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016UVFJMG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) , and likewise there are quite a variety of epdm rubber bands on amazon. Does anyone know what size EPDM bands are suitable for backup light retainers? I'm thinking a 50 pack with free shipping for under 20 bucks should be more than enough :)

I haven't used these, but I buy a lot of other stuff from McMaster. Item price is low, but you'll pay for UPS shipping. ($5.33/10 pcs + UPS shipping).

Flymolo's link may be cheaper for those using Amazon Prime. But I'm seeing them as $12.34/10 pcs + free Prime shipping). I'm not seeing the 50 pc pack flymolo referred to.

I used to use cut up inner tube for light head retainers. They would occasionally rip. Not a big deal in and of itself, but replacing meant unthreading and re-threading my harness, which WAS a PITA.

I changed to using a tri-slide and a loop of bungee. Maybe not DIR. MAYBE someone would feel like it's some kind of entanglement hazard (the empty loop of bungee that's there when I'm actually using my light). But, it sure is a lot more convenient. And much easier to grab and re-insert my light head when I'm done with my light.

I use the exact same thing. The little knot in the bungee is easy to locate and pull so that the light head drops right in..

Pictures please...!

I tie it with 2 Fisherman's knots, which slide (same way you tie a bungee necklace), so I can adjust the size of the loop as needed. That particular rig is one I put together but have only used 2 or 3 times, so I haven't gotten around to trimming the ends of the bungee like I should. They are a bit long.

I just hook the loop with my thumb to hold it open while I stick the light head in.

The way I'm doing it, if a knot comes loose, it won't just let the loop open up and let the light head loose.

Hi Guys:
I bought these on Amazon. They are tough. And I'm happy. I do realize that there is so many in a package but I made lots of friends when I handed them to fellow divers.:):)

Update: Now I see the price up to $20. Believe me when I say that I got these for $5.34. Keep an eye on the price; it should come down. Still a decent price especially if you split with diving friends.

Update 2: I see that I am off topic. I realize its not about the power inflator holder on the D ring but where the bands go.

I do the same as Stuart's,although mine doesn't look as DIR since I have pink bungee. I do like it a lot more than the tire inner tube, which I also have on my harness.
I do need to re-do mine, since I have them a little loose and sometimes the flashilight head comes out but overall,I like it a lot better.
