X-Tek 40lb wing setup for single tank ?

The sta is intended to be used with the single tank wing. Some single tank wings also don't have holes for cam bands so you have to use the sta with them.

yes thats it and i'll deff get one if i start using doubles.. but whats the point of using single tank in 1st place on such a wing if its gonna taco and negatively impact diving experience

If it's just the tank wobble, $15: OMS Soft STA Stabilizing Adapter should take care of that. My #25 hollis has a much shorter version of that, it works well enough. No idea how that one would work on your wing, YMMV, etc.

PS. mine is velcroed in the middle, no screw holes, and I do use one screw to keep it all together. Looks like with that version you won't have a choice.

the sta lets you strap on a single tank with the doubles wing, but it isn't recommended. the recommendation is always to get separate wings for single tank and doubles.

i dont need that since i can screw them directly.. i just need to get my hands on ss screws.. now im worried about the fact that my 40wing isnt good for diving single tanks.. and returning it would be a big hassle.. since it was imported

I bought coutersunk screws from a local hardware shop: I find it creates less bump on top of the grommet. Again, on mine that "soft sta" thing is short and in the middle, so you can still strap the tank on a slant -- not sure how much of an issue that'd be with the longer and seemingly wider OMS version.

I wouldn't expect the wing to be that bad, if at all "bad", for singles. It may not be optimal but there's a lot of room between "suboptimal" and "horrible tacoing drag". You won't really know until you dive though.

yes it did.. but was okay diving with it in 15L steel tank

Please avoid diving a single tank with a doubles wing, I cringe every time I see it. At best it’s awkward, difficult to control and distracting from more important things. At worst, you can get seriously injured. Feel free to use an STA and include a single tank wing with that order.
