Hello all,

I'm looking for opinions on dive shop software. Our business currently uses Eve, but we find that while the developers have a flexible and capable program, they could learn quite a few lessons on designing a good GUI, especially for those dive industry professionals who aren't quite adept at computer operation. As a result we are looking to get off Eve to something else.

I realize we'll never find a perfect solution, but some features we'd like to have:
  • Web based. Half the staff uses PC's and the other half uses Mac's. With Eve, half our staff can't access the program to see their schedule. We are open to non-web based programs, but it needs to be Mac accessible. Using a Windows emulator, like Fusion is not desirable.
  • Quickbooks intergration. We'd love the ability of this to push income data directly to QB without tedious manual data entry.
  • Easy user-interface. We need employees to be able to use this easily, and not fumble through it.
  • Multi-store support. We run multiple POS locations.
  • A software that manages boat charters, classes, rental equipment. These are our primary revenue streams. Retails sales, inventory management, service, would be great as well.
  • Good day-view calendar. Lots of softwares I see, have a horrible calendar view. It's nice to see all employees assignments at a glance on a single page day view.
  • Multi-currency support. We are in the Cayman Islands, and deal with KYD and USD. This is actually not essential, but a nice feature.
I could go on, but these are the core elements we'd like to have.

I've given cursory looks at Visible Divers, DiveCentreHQ, Diveshop 360.

Anyone have any experience they'd like to share, publicly or privately?

Thanks in advance, Tony

Edit, looks like DiveCenterHQ is now defunct with no support.

My shop uses AutoCad, but that probably will not help you much. :poke:

That's funny, Don. You weld with that keyboard? New boat coming, BTW. Lots of welding.

Anyway, back to Tony. We had the devil of a time getting even a simple booking program off the shelf. I wonder if Capt Garys Scubaocity would work for you. The description meets the requirements, but I don't know if there is an ongoing service fee. Otherwise, Kevin (our Kevin) owned the content to the booking and POS program, completely home grown. He is suddenly freed up, and might be able to gin something up for you exactly what you want.If you don't remember the number, I can help with that.

I have visible divers and I am shopping for it's replacement

My FT non scuba job is in IT and software development. I help people evaluate software all the time. I have a couple of questions that may help you. I'm assuming your looking for gear sales and lessons, correct?

Gear...
Do you want to sell online? Most GOOD e-commerce solutions will basically be a web based register. You would just create accounts and go.

Do you want to track inventory. Ie if your out of stock does it show up online?

Do you use POs to keep track of orders and incoming inventory and track gear costs from order to invoice?

Do you maintain the same lines or constantly changing brands etc. if you change a lot inventory mgmt and input time or import functions

Many of these good ecommerce will integrate with QB either by import, sync or live interaction or ERP software which is basically inventory mgmt and financials in one.

Lessons...
Do you have standing class schedules, or do you customize dates and times for each diver or group?

Do you cater to local divers or tourists? I ask because a course or speciality is a great add on to a charter or package.

Do you book dive charters? We built a online booking tool for a dive boat and are about to take it to market. Http://Divescheduler.com. (Still finishing site) cost you nothing. We add small online booking fee just like ticket master. Full calendar, dive site selection, booking, credit card payments, diver reminder emails, captain emails with dive roster, coupon codes, and much more.

There are a lot of great tools outside the scuba world that will work better than the scuba apps. I would be happy to discuss your needs more in depth and help you find the best solution for you.

You should try Dive.Management
This system is completely for free but has also Premium account. Tried most of the systems on the market but this one contains all what we need. Great interface and very good support. If there is something missing then just send email to the support and they will implement that very soon.
