There are folks, who speak eloquently, but are seeping poison through their clenched teeth, and folks, who sometimes speak in a "colorful" manner, but generally mean well. I would trade 1000 of the former for 1 of the latter any day. Of course it's the latter who are much more likely to violate TOS and get kicked out. I don't know Jax personally, but from her posts, I never got the impression of a mean-spirited person acting out of malicious intent. I was quite surprised by that perma-ban. Even though I realize I certainly don't have all the facts, excluding people just does not feel right. A part of what makes this a great site is that it's an inclusive community, where people generally feel welcome.
Criticizing moderators' decision seems like a bad strategy, since it is human nature to justify our actions and we don't want to prime the moderators in the wrong way. On the other hand, at least in my book, there are few things that instill respect as much as forgiveness, and admitting a mistake, those are exactly the kinds of things that radiate strength, integrity, and confidence.
