Hi I would like to know the name of the reef that you drift dive an come up by the cruise ships. I was going through pics but did not mark them.I would like your thoughts for a private transfer to hotel from airport 4 in group.THANKS JAY:confused:

Paradise reef ends at the southern most pier, Puerta Maya. The reason it ends there is because they destroyed the north end of the reef to accommodate it. Currently they are allowing Carnival cruise lines to add a second 'stinger' to the south off the current pier, causing a further loss to the reef. So much for the national marine park.

Your choices are to take the shuttle or walk out to the street to hail a cab.

The walk is not very far if you have wheels on your bags. Just stand at the traffic circle and taxis come by often. IT is not legal for them to pick up on the airport grounds. The fare will be much cheaper for the four of you…unless your hotel is way down south

Last time just as I reached the circle at taxi and I traded the looks. He nodded down the airport road and I hustled down to meet him. He was out like shot throwing my stuff in the back so the Federales did not see him while encouraging me to GET IN THE CAR! Had me at Money Bar in no time flat.

Much the same as I said about the Bag Drag from CUN, with my wife and all the crapola we take with us, it is much easier to just relax and take the shuttle. The difference in cost is negligible and it's almost as fast.

I feel the same way; I get too hot and sweaty dragging myself and all my bags out to the circle and then half a block down the road - most cabs won't pick you up right at the traffic circle, too much risk they'll get busted. But that doesn't stop me from being pissed off at the political corruption that allows the Shuttle Company to get the monopoly on Airport traffic.

The cabs and the shuttles are all run by the taxi union. It's their country; let them run it the way they want to. :D

As if there were anything I could do to stop them! And, IF what you are saying is correct, that the Taxi Union runs the Shuttle Service, and in the process cuts off its members from a large potential source of income, that doesn't say much about the honesty of the leaders of the Taxi Union, does it? SOMEBODY finds it worthwhile to pay off the local authorities to keep taxis from picking up travelers at the airport, and it sure as hell isn't the Taxi drivers! Not saying that Mexico is any different than the U.S. Somebody finds it very worthwhile to convince certain cities to prohibit outfits like Uber and Lyft from operating in those cities, and it sure as hell isn't the consumers - or the voters. Government is inherently corrupt, and expecting anything different even in the States requires some self-delusion.

Sad fact is that if Taxis picked up at the airport in Coz…there would be no room for anything else. Think cruise ship piers!
