I'm planning a trip to Key Largo starting May 16th. I don't know exactly how long I'll be there I'm guessing a week (need to ask my parents). I'm staying at the Holiday Inn in Key Largo. What dive shop would some of you recommend? Only things I need to rent are a wetsuit, tank, and BC. Somewhere with good rental prices would be nice and where I can see the nice views underwater. Also, what package would you recommend?

My first choice in Key Largo is always

Quiescence Diving Services 103680 Overseas Highway Key Largo, Florida 33037 305.451.2440
Quiescence Diving Services, World Class Diving in Key Largo, FL

They run 6 packs so there's never a crowd which is very good. On the flip side their small boats mean they are the first to cancel if conditions aren't just right.

Last March used Sea Dwellers for daughter's check out dives. They use the Holiday Inn pool for their classes and the boat ties up right behind the hotel. But presently their web site appears to be FUBAR.

From what I've observed, the prices at the various dive shops in Key Largo are fairy comparable. I like to dive with Conch Repubic Divers which is a few miles south of where you are staying. I've also dove with Silent World and they are really close to the Hoiday Inn. Most of the dive shops offer multiple trip discounts: e.g., prepay for 5 trips (10 dives) and you'll get a small discount to paying for 5 seperate trips. Both dive shops have on-line schedules so you can look to determine if they are doing the sort of diving you want to do on the days you'll be in Key Largo.

+2 on Silent World great service and top notch gear!

I like Conch Republic.

Conch Republic hands down. Top notch outfit and they're right on the ocean so no long boat rides through the mangroves like some other dive ops.

They are all good to very good.
The competition is to intense for a crappy one to last long.

My last few trips I've dived with Capt. Gary at Conch Republic. Always been happy with them.
