Weights listed too...!!

I noticed yesterday that they have edited their signs at the check-in counter when flying out of Coz, and don't say you didn't see the signs...

They have several employees hired to hold the signs and ask each person to read them!

Like the others who do nothing but hold the 3-1-1 signs and ask you to read those, and those several individuals outside who stand guard to make sure you walk inside the painted lanes.

Anyway, the editing was a little sloppy, but they got batteries on the prohibited list now, that you are required to read before checking your bags - so you can move them to your bags, which is how I pack. There are a number of exceptions, like TSA is not really involved in this list - it's how things are done there while TSA says to carry them on, and some of the items are indeed allowed in the 3-1-1 bag - but the warnings are very clear now... :thumb:

I still wonder about the duct tape and curler prohibitions, but well - we just have to go with the rules.

"Liquids"? No 3-1-1 anymore?

I agree on the duct tape. Seems like a random thought.

Thanks for posting. We ran into battery problems last year. Will be prepared for it this year. :)

Don,
Good post. Question for clarification? They are referring to loose batteries only, correct? Batteries installed in cameras, strobes and computers are okay?

I did not take that pic. I did mentioned "Like the others who do nothing but hold the 3-1-1 signs and ask you to read those" and "some of the items are indeed allowed in the 3-1-1 bag" but then - I should have shot that pic too. Who is leaving there tomorrow and get that pic?

That was my experience, yes. I had batteries in 2 cameras, a laptop, 2 dive computers, and 2 analyzers. I would not carry batteries in a strobe tho, or a dive light.

Well, ....ah...:shakehead:. Since I like to pack carry on only, does this mean a vacation without my electric curlers !!! But I set my hair every morning before my dives !!!

This is part of a post that ddeborahdelamar sent to me to add to the Arriving to the Cozumel Airport Sticky that I update.

FYI ALERT 6/12/2012 According to ddeborahdelamar, a resident of Cozumel, Volunteer & a member of the Consejo (Board of Directors) of Cruz Roja (Cozumel Red Cross) and a frequent Scubaboard contributor :
At the departure security screening, they are confiscating loose batteries found in carryons -- used or new in sealed packs doesn't matter. Batteries installed in cameras, phones, laptops, and other electronic devices are OK.

As far as the ever changing list....

silly [ˈsɪlɪ]adj -lier, -liest1. lacking in good sense; absurd

However, base line...What we know as safe and reasonable according to U S of A TSA, does not apply to Mexico rules and regulations. It is what it is and it is up to you whether or not you want to abide by the rules or have your items confiscated. The ultimate choice is don't go to Cozumel. Thanks for posting Don.

Yep, Deb happened to be there a little later and she was the first I showed the pic to.

I always put a piece of cardboard at the cap end of the strobe or light to isolate the terminals. No contact.

And then there is the agent hired to decide how it looks.

Have you ever been hogtied with duct tape?
I have and its NOT one of them things that only work in movies, although thats where the airport security learned that everyone who has duct tape is badguys..

This is not the time or place to discuss your love life.

No, I haven't, but why is it a risk anyway?
