So I just ordered a passle of Viton O-rings through my shop along with a few other parts. 60 o-rings in various sizes (I wanted to have a good stash of spares) a couple of soft seats a couple of exhaust valves and a diaphragm. Total cost: $140+.

I didn't have the prices when I made the order (special Trident order through my LDS) and I just went ahead and ordered everything understanding the shop would put the order in and then give me a final price. Now, that might be stupid on my part but I generally trust and like this shop. I was afraid I might get a serious markup on the gear but I was more concerned about getting it ordered and delivered locally and I like using the shop when it's reasonable to do so.

I'm thinking this situation might not have been reasonable, however. That said, I have no idea how much Viton O-rings generally run but I can't imagine them being $1 or more each. (I still haven't popped in to get an itemized receipt so that's just an estimate.)

I won't need to buy any more for quite a while but when I do, I'm pretty sure I'll be buying from Mcmaster Carr or some other such place. I just need to figure out the correct part numbers.

How much do you folks pay for viton o-rings?

I get mine through jet gasket. Last time I got them for the HP spool they were $6.00 and $1.00 postage. For a hundred. That's why I include a spare set with every reg I sell where the seller also orders a pressure gauge. Just a little extra something that costs me very little but may save someone's dive day or trip.

Yeah I knew I was going to pay too much, I just didn't really expect it to be "that much too much", if you know what I mean. I did order 6 different sizes, but that price doesn't make any sense to me.

My latest order from O-rings, Inc. The only item I found high was the metric o-rings. I thought I'd give the 2 MM X 1 MM V75 o-rings a try in place of the 2.2mm X 1.0mm......I haven't evaluated them yet. Also want to try a few V90 -003 in place of the normal V75

M83248/1 = V75 M83248/2 = v90

I get aviation grade FKM just because.

I've ordered EPDM and Viton o-rings from a few different online sources (McMaster-Carr; Dive Gear Express; O-rings, Inc.).
I believe the best prices for Viton o-rings were offered by O-rings, Inc. :idk:
AFAIK, these are reputable sources. Shipping to one's residence is very convenient.
Expect to pay a premium mark-up if you purchase oxygen-compatible o-rings through your dive shop.

In all fairness, you did mention that the $140 covered soft seats, exhaust valves, and a diaphragm. Those parts can certainly add up.

Mc Master: 5 to 10 bucks for a baggy of 100 or 50 depending on size, no mix. You just have to find some excuses as to why you want/need that many.

Another vote for McMaster Carr. We use a lot of O-rings (many thousands a year) and I found their prices beat all the bulk houses. How they do it I don't know.

Buy the bag of 100 from McMaster-Carr and give a few of the extras to all your dive buddies. You will suddenly become their hero and you saved a bunch of $$ in the process.

You can also get your buddies together and split the cost. You can end up with enough spare o-rings for life and only spend about $20 per person.

Yeah, I don't know exactly how much the o-rings are but I got a tank back today for which they charged $2 for the o-ring. I assume the others are similarly expensive...
