Hey Stout, did you read this or just not believe it? It was posted someplace in this thread. The cancellation policy is fairly common in the industry, no?

Ok, again… It’s very clear in your Booking Confirmation that if you make cancellation 2 weeks or less before the trip the full amount will be charged.
I made you a very fair deal that you only had to pay 7.540,- and then you could join a Burma trip instead. In the booking Confirmation it also say that you should make a travel insurance that cover Scuba diving and it would also cover in cases like this where you have to cancel a trip.

I only gave you this deal because I wanted to help you. If you want I can put in your booking confirmation and our email conversation?

The OP (Guitarfish) paid over 30,000 Baht.

The quote above of 7,540 Baht was only the price to upgrade to the Burma trip after the OP's Thailand was cancelled, or something to that effect.

Timeout.

I was planning on it last year, but I got attacked by a dog, so that pretty much transformed my dive trip into a beach trip. I'm not a beachy kind of guy, so all I ended up doing was eating.

I travel alone...

How do dogs intuitively know these things?

A very entertaining thread. Thank you all...

OK, so the 7540 was for the upgrade, not the trip, I can live with that, cheers

Marineresearch. the dog was a psycho who attacked a German tourist the night before he attacked me and a Burmese guy before that.

He was delicious:wink:

To quote some movie character "what we have here is a failure to communicate". I understand how the OP thinks he paid over 30k THB for the Burma trip but he really did not. He forfeited his 23k THB when he cancelled the trip at the last minute. The operator, in trying to keep the customer happy (silly him), said okay, you can join another trip without the forfeit. Here is a Burma trip which would cost you another 7,420 THB. The operator could have just as easily said "Sorry" to the OP or, the cost of the Burma trip is an extra 37k or he could have sold it to someone else. The common practice is that you lose your trip cost on a last minute cancellation. That is why trip insurance is recommended.

Now, about all the other things the OP said went wrong, those are just as believable as what the other pro-AIDC customers have said so everyone can make their own mind up about who is more truthful. I am not sure.

shame about the Burmese guy

I feel very sorry for the german guy too. And I hope not to be seen as a sock puppet. I am pro-AIDC and normally write in the german taucher.net. Now I tried to make a comment here and I think, that AIDC made a very fair deal to guitarfish.
