I suppose not.Don, I don't know of a dealer that carries individual parts for any camera housing.
Maybe Leisure Pro/Adorama, one of the biggest DIVE & CAMERA shops in the world, but that'd be about it.
Most dealers don't even carry spare o-rings for camera housings. It's just not an item thatn regular "mom and pop" dive shops have. You kinda have to go to the manufacturer to get them, or have the dealer order them.
Now on low cost items, I think the risk could be accepted. Send by First Class or Priority with an email including "To avoid higher costs in shipping, your needed part was sent by cheapest means, but you should receive it soon. If you do not receive within x business days, let us know and we will reship." I've ordered countless small items from overseas that way, with like $3 shipping fees - no problems.Yeah, USPS padded envelope and a stamp are nice, but most businesses don't use them because USPS isn't as dependable and tracking a lost item with them is about worthless. They can't even track delivered items most of the time. So businesses quit using them to ship product because in the end it just ticks off the customer when the item gets lost, and then they are out the cost of the item, the shipping, and having to send a second one. Often they loose the customer over something like this.
It's just not worth to them in the long run.
Ok, I got the part. I give them credit very fast service. It was sent usps, the postage on the box was $5.20. They charged me a flat rate of $9.95 for shipping. Whatever, it is fixed now! I guess the extra can be for handling charges.
And just to toss our 2 cents worth in, we are one of the largest authorized Sealife Dealers out there as well offering a full range of products and parts and our flate rate shipping charge for that same part would only be $7.45!
