Until SymmTime, a PC clock could gain or lose time, usually without your knowledge.
WTF, that is totally bull ****. Network Time Protocol (NTP) has been around for over 25 years. Windows XP (and probably earlier versions) uses an implementation of NTP to adjust your computer clock automatically.

Oh and from experience, not having your servers time sync'd really blows.
