Will my wife be too hot in Coz in her 6.5mm wetsuit?

She doesn't get cold too easily. And we are planning on 2 dives a day for 5 days in a row + a couple of night dives. So about 12 dives in 5 days.

Her last comparable dive was in the Med in 26C (79F) water at surface / 17C (62F) at 100FT and she was toasty in her wetsuit.

Then again, she is toasty in 49F Monterey water too with the same suit + a 5.5m shorty on top... While I freeze solid in the metridium fields...

The weight issue is one I had not thought about as is the 'other' form of 'hotness'. I think a 3mm would be advantageous in both those cases... :-)

If she was "toasty" in 62º water, then she will definitely be toasty in the same suit here - sounds like a 3mm will suit her well here - bring along the hooded vest just in case :)

If she's used to diving cold water and doesn't get cold easily, it's rather doubtful she needs a 6.5 mm suit in Coz. Personally, I wouldn't dream of diving a heavy wetsuit down there and would get something lighter. (I generally stick with 1mm and occasionally a 3mm vest, but it's hard for anyone to guess what someone else needs over the internet.)

Sure, she can let water in the suit while diving, but it will be hot on the surface and it's a pain to take on and off. Using a heavy suit negates a few of the advantages of diving warm water - less weight, less fiddling with buoyancy, greater comfort of a thin suit. It's also more bulk to pack in your luggage and stuff in your dive bag.

Seems a little much, she should not be to warm in the water but topside she will fry.

In Cozumel, it's 3mm shortys for us, and we're slender people with very little "natural insulation". We've been with some divers who do 3mm full, a very few do 5mm full, and others in a t-shirt. I think a 6.5 mm would be unbearably hot. I would not consider such a thick suit for myself for a second.

Are the stores on Coz touristicly typically super-expensive? Or pretty much standard US LDS prices?

PS: She doesn't want a shorty - ever since we encountered a billion jellyfish on Monterey, she has preferred a full suit rather than a shorty. (And wearing a skin under a shorty violates the 1st rule of diving: 'Looking Good!')

Everyone is different
if needed just by a 3m in Coz. I'm sure you can find a store :D

Minimal selection and two to three times the price!

Sherwood Scuba on 15 Ave. has really increased it's selection of wetsuits. you can get 3mm shorty's -7mm full suits. The 7mm full suits are around $200USD, which is really not too bad. It's a little more expensive than internet stores like leisurepro.com, but you can try them on and see how they feel.

Costco online has women's Bare Ignite 3/2 for $59.99

Without posting a picture it would be difficult to know....:worthless:
