Wow Tom! So sorry to hear of your experiences - one can understand if there is the occassional slip up as this could happen to anyone. But from your report I find all this unebelievable to say the least.

Wishing you all the very best with your future ventures in the Diving Industry and please do not be put off by diving in Thailand as a whole.

Hi Tom,

Unfortunate that you had thes experiences in PTY. As Ringo already said, hope you don't give up on diving in Thailand, there are/should be plenty of dc's that can offer a better service than what you have experienced.

Its very unfortunate that you have had such a bad experience, but you have found out the hard way, the Pattaya dive industry is rotton to the core.
Personally I think it's a good idea to name and shame when it comes to poor treatment such as you have experienced.
By doing so you could prevent others from having the same poor experiences, or maybe there is even a remote chance that some of these idiots would book their ideas up, and actually give the customer something in return for their extortionate rates charged.

Not at all unbelievable I am afraid, this is just typical of Pattaya dive shops.

It's unfortunate you had such a bad time on your trip. I have been following this thread 'off and on' but not enough to figure out which dive shops you are talking about. In fairness to both sides, maybe you should point out which shops you are unsatisfied with, in that way they can respond if they like and defend themselves and tell their side of the story. I'm not defending them or supporting you, but there are usually 2 sides to a story and sometimes 3?

Scuba board is designed to be an informative and educational forum board, it would surely be helpful to others if you disclosed exactly which shops you had bad experiences with, and maybe once they learn of the dissatisfaction of one of their customers they will strive to improve their service.

Better luck next time.

It is very unfortunate that people are still being treated in this manner.
But I have to say, 'I am loving this one'.
I wonder what Aquanauts will have to say about this, they are conspicuous by their absence. Are they implicated???

You have not got a chance there, Pattaya shops have been treating their customers in this manner for years. Why would they improve now because of one complaint.
All they want is peoples money, once they have that they just dont give a ****.
I do agree though to name them to prevent others in the future going there and being treated in the same manner.
With all my years diving around Pattaya, I feel the only way these shops will stop treating people so poorly is when they eventually run out of customers and close for good.

Indeed unfortunate! I dive Pattaya fairly regularly (once a month) and bring HS students with me at least 4- 5 times during the school year. I look after them but experience good support from the dive center. When diving without HS students I tend to use a Thai boat out of Sameasan. No problems there either. I wonder what shops you were with as well. Pitching 20+ vis is a crime as it would be rare. I am still waiting to see my first ever whale shark with well over 100 dives in the Pattaya area. Maybe I will get lucky during my Dec diving in the Phuket area...

Good to see you will still continue your training.
