Anyone have any trouble with Customs? People tell me they are soo corrupt that they will take everything of value from you...

guys,

have we confused the DR with Dominica here?

please clarify, according to my research, some of these threads are talking about different places....

yes?

prskate2 -- How was your trip to DR? My wife and I were looking at DR before we decided on Curacao. Now we're looking for our next vacation.

The DR was great! The diving was spectacular. The hotel was 5 star literally and all inclusive. Filled with Europeans, so its very clean. I would definalty reccomend it to everyone!!

I'm heading to Punta Cana October 12-19. Staying at Princess Bavaro resort. Working on OW certification now, will have by the trip. Scubacaribe is on the resort. Any recomendations for this area/new divers?

Ok so far I have Punta Cana & Bayahibe as possibles.

Dive Co. - Dressel and ScubaFun

Anything else.

If a choice, pick??

Do you prefer all inclusive or independent hotel to stay in?
The only problem sometimes people have with diving with some resort dive shops, that they have to follow the schedule for dive sites, and cannot choose what they want. We have 23 dives sites around Bayahibe and they go probably to 10 of them. Look here Dive sites around Bayahibe

We stayed in a Juan Dolio resort with ok dives at the reef (average visibility) and wrecks (35m deep...), but the La Sirena Cave (Neptuno Dive Centre) with its two chambers was truly fantastic, similar to the Mexican cenotes. Catalina Island (by day trip from Juan Dolio) had definitely the most marine life of our dives.
