How cold do you consider cold water?

I've been looking at gear and such and they say 'best suited for cold water' and such, and got me to thinking, how cold is 'cold' water? Since it is a relative term, it varies by opinion. What does everyone else think?

hey- if you are diving in CA , you are diving in cold water!!! coldest i've seen is 46F (Monterey) oooohhh , so cold! (although we did 3 dives that day)

I dont mind diving with a hood and in the later months here in Texas we need a hooded vest. Dont mind that, but to cold, like lower 60's and I will cramp up in my legs.
 
I don't consider it cold until it's below 50 and even then it's not really cold until it's in the 30's.

Wow, when i did a dive a few weeks back, the water was 55 and i was thought it was warm. i wasn't wearing a hood, but i wish i had one.

Just got back from Jamaica and i doubt i'll go back into california water too willingly :P

Anything below 60 is cold water for me. But then again, I dive here in SoCal all the time.
Please don’t slip into the vacation only or warm water wussie crowd! Diving here on the West Coast is truly amazing in its own right.
 
For me personally, anything under 70F feels pretty cold. From my experience 59F and lower is where most people break out the 7mm and farmer johns, and you see a spike in drysuit usage in the low to mid 50s.
